Sejarah Patung Bogani Bolaang Mongondow
A brown statue that stands at the intersection of three Kotobangon sub-districts. As time goes by, this Bogani statue has a history that only a few know, especially the younger generation today. Likewise, the Bolmong community may need to remember its history.
The Bogani figure who is the model for the statue is Bogani Paloko. Because those who live around the river flow and the Kotobangon area up to the top of Ilongkow are Bogani Paloko.
There are so many Bogani in Bolmong, such as Bogani Ki Bagat, Inde Indou, Inde Dikit, Dugian, Paloko, Ponamboian, Dondo, Pongayow, Lingkit, Mogedag and many more.
Regarding the two weapons held by the Bogani statue, they are named Tungkudon for the stick which is also a spear, in his right hand. Meanwhile, the shield in the left hand is named Kaleaw.
This is from a cultural perspective, the Mongondow people face north. So Tungkudon faces north or Tombaian, meaning happiness or pleasure. If you go to the west, it is called Toyopan, which means not good, that's why the statue is slightly tilted to the south. Meanwhile, the east is called Silangan, so it must be turned back because it is not good to challenge the direction of the rising sun. To the south, Selamatgan means what is visible to the eye.
